The Holidays

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving did not turn out quite like I had anticipated this year.  Both my sisters and their kids were going to be together the whole week of Thanksgiving.  Sarah and I drove with our three kiddos to Pensacola and Audra and Grayson drove down from Atlanta.  We had a couple good days and then sadly, Grayson got the flu and the Garlichs had to leave on Thanksgiving Day.  It was tragic.  But we did manage to have some fun before the sickness.  We got to go the beach and the Naval Air Museum.  The cousins and sisters had a great time while it lasted.  Maren ended up getting the flu too.  Ken and Brody were the last ones standing.  Even though the week didn't look like what I wanted it to look like, I had to be grateful for the time we were able to spend together and for the fact that nothing worse happened.  We still had each other in sickness and in health.  : )

Christmas

Christmas break has been relaxing and yet productive.  Greg and I have been working on projects around the house, but we've had really good family time too.  We celebrated with the extended Kraus clan on the Saturday before Christmas.  On Christmas Eve we went to the service at church and out to dinner.  It was a nice and relaxing birthday.  On Christmas Day, Brody was completely spoiled with way too many presents, but it was oh so fun to watch him open them all.  He was so aware of everything this year and we really tried to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas.  All December long we sang happy birthday to Jesus and Greg did an advent calendar with Brody which was precious to watch.  We had a lot of fun family time; A movie night of hot chocolate and the Polar Express;  making Christmas cookies, making Christmas ornaments; making Christmas crafts.  It was all so much fun.  So thankful we have Christmas and all the joy it  brings.  So thankful that Jesus came in the form of a baby so that he could save the whole world.  Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus.
