Summer 2014

As usually seems to happen, Summer came and went in the blink of an eye.  Since it's December when I'm writing this and the high today was seventy five degrees, the heat sticks around a little longer than the time off.  It was a busy summer.

June
We traveled to Pensacola to visit my family.  The past several years, it's been over the Fourth of July weekend, but do to life, June worked out better this year.  It's always fun to be together and always goes so quickly.  Brody really liked the Beach and loved being with his cousins.

July
We came back from Pensacola and celebrated Independence Day in our new, great big 'ol town of Fulshear.  Granna and Grandad came.  We got to see the parade and then got soaked by a huge Texas sized rainstorm.  Brody got to see a few big fireworks that the neighbors were doing.  He was pretty tired by the time he saw them and I think he was pretty indifferent for the most part.  He was a little scared, but didn't cry.  He just clung tight and watched.

And in July we actually moved into our new house. I kept joking with Cathy that we were actually going to move out.  We did.  It just took us awhile.  Thankfully our landlords were patient with us in the process.

In July we also had some highs and lows.  We did another IVF transfer of two embryos that was not successful.  It was pretty hard on us because we only have one embryo left and after two failed attempts with two embryos it's hard to believe that the last one will work.  But we serve a God who has been faithful and generous to us and whether it works or not, we are so blessed to have our little family.  We're also blessed to have celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on July 14th.  There is always so much to be thankful for in spite of the pain we experience in this life.

August
In August my "little" Brody turned TWO!!!  I believe he deserves his own birthday post which will be coming soon!

After Brody's birthday, Sarah and Marc left Maren and Kennedy at our house for a little mommy/daddy get-a-way.  Sarah thought calling it Aunt Camp would make it more fun.  Not sure that worked for Maren, but I think Kennedy had a good time.  : )  I think Maren did too, but she felt a little more left out than Kennedy that her parents were off on a trip without her.  I tried to make camp as fun as possible.  Greg was already back at work, so I got a taste of what it would be like to have three kids ages 7, 5 and 2.  Let me tell you...it's exhausting.  Greg got to join us on the last day (thankfully or someone might have died). : )

And in all the in between times, we were at the pool.  Brody was a little fish this summer.  He loves the water!
