Sweet Summertime

We went to Pensacola for 10 whole days and it was wonderful!  Greg and I used to make the 8+ hour drive and not think too much about it.  Now that we have a little, we want to make the drive totally worth it, so we decided to pack up the car with everything including the kitchen sink and basically move in for awhile.  Thanks, mom and dad!

When Brody was 3 and a half months old, we drove to Pensacola for Thanksgiving.  It wasn't horrible, but it most definitely was not easy getting there.  Brody got tired of being in his car seat very early on in the trip and we had to get a hotel and make the rest of the drive the next day.  Not life altering, but not an ideal trip.  We haven't made the drive since then. Brody has been getting bigger and bigger (obviously) and his little infant carrier has become less and less appealing to him.  He doesn't throw a fit, but he's kinda pitiful after a fairly short time of being in it.  With this information we decided to go ahead and buy his big boy seat for the trip.  We tried it out a few days before we left and it was a big hit.  We were hopeful this trip would be much better and it totally was.  Brody did great!  I mean, he seriously rocked it!  Even at the end when I knew he was ready to be out of his seat and out of the car, he held it together.  What a champ!

Starting out...not really awake yet.

Brody took his bottles and food in the car.  We only stopped once!

If only the whole drive was this nice...but Brody enjoyed looking out the window.

Our sweet little traveler.

Not sure what to think about going through the tunnel in Mobile.

This is the very last part of the trip...still hanging in there!
We're almost to Nana & Poppy's!

The next day, we went to a sandwich place for lunch with Nana and Poppy...
this is where some lady thought Brody was a girl.  Seriously?!
 #1. He's wearing a blue collared shirt.
#2He has trucks, trains and cars on his seat cover.
#3.  He looks nothing like a girl.
We politely smiled at the lady (who we assumed was on drugs) and told her he was our precious BOY!

Sarah, Audra, Maren, Kennedy, and Gray arrived on Saturday afternoon.  Brody
got a baby buddy to play with.

Not sure what to think...

Can't you just sense the excitement?

Happy to be out of the car!

Aunt Audra loves the Brody Bear!

Nana and baby Gray.

Trying on Poppy's hat.

The little buddies.

Brody had an amazing time at the beach!  He wasn't quite sure what to think of the sand.  He just kept running his fingers through it, not able to understand why it wouldn't stay in his hands.  He LOVED the water.  I mean, this boy giggled and giggled he loved it so much.  #beachphotofest

So many fun toys at Nana's house.

We went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel one night and Brody seriously flirted with three different
older ladies.  It was so funny!
Fun at the movies!

Our all American boy!

Maren and Kennedy helped Nana in the kitchen.  Cutest little bakers I've ever seen!

The boy cousins!

Bath buddies.

This is Brody showing off his new blinking skills.

Brody was very interested in bowling.

This empty Kleenex boy kept him entertained the last 15 minutes of our trip home.
It's the little things.  Happy to be home, but had a great time in Pensacola!
