Spring Break

Remember back in January when we sold our house (in literally two weeks), put all our stuff in storage and moved in with my in laws?  Well, that was when my hubby told me that Brody and I would be able to go to stay with my parents for a couple weeks.  I was beyond thrilled that Brody and I would be able to spend a week with my parents and then both my sisters and their kiddos would be able to come for the second week that we were going to be there.  It pretty much worked out perfectly.  Brody and I flew to Pensacola and then the following week, Greg drove our car over (it was his Spring Break) so we could all drive back together.

The plane ride was Brody's first.  We got some pretty devastating news when we got to the airport that our flight was delayed...like majorly delayed.  We would be leaving Houston when we were supposed to be getting into Pensacola.  Brody held it together pretty well.  He was entertained by the planes and people watching.  However, it got a little dicey right before we were supposed to board the plane.  Let's just say I was that lady in the airport with the screaming toddler.  I will never forget the kindness of strangers.  There was the sweetest couple that occupied Brody's attention for 15 minutes!  It was amazing to say the least.  Then there was yet another couple who talked to him for a few minutes as we were literally boarding the plane.  We had the whole row to ourselves (yet another blessing) and once we got settled, Brody really relaxed and did really well on flight (especially considering it was his bed time).

The first week we were there and it was just me and Brody, he thought he was king of the castle.

But then his little buddy cousin Grayson arrived.  It's totally monkey see, monkey do when they're together.  Therefore there is a lot of mischief making, but they are just so stinking cute together...I know I'm biased, but it's just ridiculous the amount of cuteness. They would totally gibber jabber to each other and laugh and hug.  I'm talking adorable.

Then the big girl cousins arrived.  Oh how I hate that we live so far away, but love and soak up every second we're all together.  I love to see all the cousins in one place!

I was a little concerned about Greg driving to Pensacola by himself, but thankfully God allowed him to make it safely.  Brody was SO excited to see daddy.  It was obvious that he had really missed him.

It wasn't very warm while we were there, but we were able to go and play on the beach one day.  Grayson absolutely hated the sand, but the other three munchkins had a blast.  Grayson eventually found his happy place in a beach chair (or in his mamma's arms).

This pic absolutely cracks me up...the faces!!!

The rest of the week was spent hanging out, playing outside, wagon rides, crafting, drinking coffee, eating good food, watching movies and enjoying being together.

A Brody Update

Months 15-18 included a lot of things...most of the major things have already been blogged about...the major holidays and moving.  But a lot of daily life happened as well.

Brody obviously has changed.  He grows more and more aware of pretty much everything and becomes more independent everyday.  When I asked Greg how many signs he thought Brody knew, he said 50+.  I'm not sure if he's right (because I didn't sit there and count them all) but I do know Greg is normally right when it comes to things like that.  Basically, he knows a lot of signs.  Brody also started talking.  His little voice is of course completely precious.  He repeats most things (so watch out what you say).  We're really working on using words & signs in place of whining (which could drive a mama crazy).  It's going, but it's a process.

Brody is such a sweet little guy.  He has his moments (actually he seems to have his days), but what toddler doesn't.  Mostly Brody is a tender little heart who loves his mama and daddy, but is still really silly a lot of the time.  He's currently loving:  dancing, trucks, any kind of ball, hockey, being outside, wagon rides, trying new things, and coo coo trains : )  It's so much fun to watch him grow up and I love to see the world through his eyes.  Being a parent and mom is such a big responsibility, but I love that in a lot of ways you can revert back to your childhood...I love playing with block as much as he does.  I'm cherishing this time even on the "hard" days because I know they will pass too quickly.

Fun at Bass Pro Shop.

The Library.

Loves to brush his own teeth!

Yes, I let him have a bite of cookie at the grocery store.  No, he did not
eat the whole thing!

He finally LOVES the bounce house!

He loves his new back pack almost as much as
he loves to say "back pack".

We went to cousin Maren's ice skating party in Dallas.
Brody fell in love with hockey after watching a game that
was going on in another ice rink, watching the Olympics and playing with
his own hockey stick that he got for Christmas.  He says "hocKey" all
the live long day.  : )

He wandered into the gym when we ate lunch at Maren's school.
He thinks elementary school looks fun!

Rocking the air hocKey table.

New Year's Day!

My big helper!

National Champs!!!!!

Went to see Daddy at school to wish him a happy birthday.

Katy Rodeo Parade

Brody loves going to church.  He walks in with his back pack
like such a big boy!  No crying here.  : )

While visiting, Brody decided to check out Paw Paw's new ride.

First time to the Houston Children's museum which he TOTALLY LOVED.  Right after we
got home, Brody decided to do some big boy throwing up
for the first time.  There's a first time for everything...glad this one is
over and hope is does NOT occur often.
